Mill Park Preschool Playground Dedication

Please join the Mill Park community as we dedicate our new preschool playground, and help us put the finishing touches on it. We will be holding this event from 1-3 p.m. Friday, May 25 at the new playground, which is located on the north side of the school.
We will have snacks, and you can help us paint and decorate the playground fence, as well as planting some sensory garden plants.
Two years ago, Oregon’s Preschool Promise provided funds for Mill Park to open two preschool classes at our school. We needed a playground that was more inclusive and developmentally appropriate for preschoolers. Funds from the David Douglas School District and Preschool Promise helped build and install the $75,000 playground, as did a generous $10,000 grant from the East Portland Action Plan (EPAP).
EPAP was eager to assist the project because it forwards some of its goals, including enhancing community involvement, impacting our under-represented and vulnerable populations, and developing public spaces and community uses, especially for economically challenged families.
This is not the first time EPAP has assisted David Douglas with projects that further their goals, and we are grateful for their help and leadership.
We’d also like to thank Buell Recreation, which was very flexible working with us on this project in providing and installing the play equipment.
We hope to see you at our much-anticipated dedication event.
